BETWEEN THE LINES
Hello Friends!
My name is PJ Daley and my dream is to work for myself and tell stories. The past 12 years I've focused most of my spare time and energy toward being a fiction writer, wedded to the idea that writing was the best way for me to be a story teller. To be frank, I'm tired of writing stories down and living out my own.
I've always been a maker--Legos, erector sets, and wood blocks were my jam as a child--and being brought up in a DIY/craftsman family gave me plenty of workshop access and exposure. When the pandemic put me out of work, I fell back into making to fill my time and fell in love with the process of teasing ideas out of my head and into the physical world.
I enjoy working with sustainable and recycled materials--baltic birch, old skateboards, local hardwoods, parts of old furniture, retired climbing rope--these items seem to hold the most story potential to me.
My hope, my goal, is to help others create by adding functionality to their surroundings or inspiring them with beautiful objects. Both would be rad. By no means am I an expert, nor a novice, but that's the beauty of the maker revolution-you do not have to be an expert to make, and by that same token we're always learning.
Cut Contours is an opportunity to learn how to run and manage my own business, and practice telling stories through other mediums. Along the way, I hope to inspire you to create something; thank you for this opportunity.
Social media, @cutcontours on Instagram, TikTok, & Facebook, is the place to see the latest ups and downs. Otherwise, check Projects for Maker Diary entries and other articles/videos.
